Go Go Gadget: Two-In-One Citrus Juicer from Williams-Sonoma
Although I am most definitively a gearhead in life (snowboards, bikes, headlamps, you name it--I should own stock in REI), I'm sort of a minimalist when it comes to kitchen tools. I don't like to clutter up the kitchen with things I'll use once a year or, worse, with tools that perform tasks that can easily be accomplished with a nice, sharp knife.
So, with that in mind, I'll periodically write about kitchen tools that I think ARE worth having. About a year ago, my friend Karsten told me he couldn't believe I didn't have a citrus juicer in my house. This didn't sway me right away because, apart from myself, Karsten is THE biggest gearhead I know. So, when I next came over to his place and I was helping out with the guacamole, he handed me their juicer to test-spin. I was immediately converted--I'd never seen so much juice come out of a lime! Seriously, these are the things that excite me.
So, I ventured out and bought one of my own. This two-in-one (I am a sucker for anything that performs more than one function and anything reversible) citrus juicer from Williams Sonoma has been a happy part of my kitchen for about a year now and I can wholeheartedly endorse buying one. I use it all the time. For guacamole, salad dressings, marinades--anything that needs lots of citrus juice. And I love, love, love the fact that it juices smaller limes and larger lemons because of the handy dandy two-in-one feature. Green for limes, yellow for lemons. How great is that?
