Pina Colada

Puerto Rico's national drink, born in San Juan in the 1950s. A creamy blend of rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice โ€” the ultimate tropical vacation in a glass. Served blended or on the rocks. The name literally means 'strained pineapple.'

Ingredients

  • 2 oz white rum (Bacardi or Don Q)
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz cream of coconut (Coco Lรณpez)
  • 1/2 oz heavy cream (optional, for richness)
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • Pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1. Add rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and crushed ice to a blender.
  2. 2. Blend on high for 15-20 seconds until smooth and slushy.
  3. 3. Pour into a chilled hurricane glass or tiki mug.
  4. 4. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry.
  5. 5. Serve with a wide straw.
  6. ON THE ROCKS VERSION: Skip the blender. Shake all ingredients with ice, strain over fresh ice in a hurricane glass.
