Ingredients
- 1 cup honey (regular clover honey works perfectly)
- 1-2 tbsp red pepper flakes (1 tsp for mild, 1 tbsp for medium, 2 tbsp for hot)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- Optional: 1/4 tsp smoked paprika or pinch of cayenne for extra depth
Instructions
- 1. Add honey and red pepper flakes to a small saucepan over low heat.
- 2. Warm gently, stirring occasionally, until honey is loose and just beginning to simmer at edges, about 3-4 minutes. Do not let it boil hard.
- 3. Remove from heat and stir in apple cider vinegar.
- 4. Let steep off heat for 10-15 minutes so chili flavor infuses.
- 5. Taste and adjust: steep longer for more heat, or strain immediately for milder.
- 6. Pour into a clean glass jar. Strain through a fine mesh sieve for smooth honey, or leave flakes in for maximum heat.
- 7. Cool to room temperature, seal, and store at room temperature for up to 3 months.
- 8. Drizzle on pizza, fried chicken, roasted vegetables, burgers, cheese boards, or anything that needs a sweet-spicy kick!
