Vampire's Blood Cocktail

A deep crimson Halloween cocktail that looks genuinely unsettling. Vodka and cranberry juice with a slow drizzle of grenadine down the outside of the glass for a blood-dripping effect. Easy to make, terrifying to look at, delicious to drink.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 4 oz cranberry juice
  • 1 oz grenadine syrup
  • Crushed ice
  • Red sanding sugar (for rim)
  • Maraschino cherry or blood orange slice (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1. Rim a tall glass: dip the rim in grenadine syrup, then press into red sanding sugar on a plate for a dried-blood effect.
  2. 2. Fill the glass with crushed ice.
  3. 3. Pour vodka and cranberry juice over the ice. Stir gently.
  4. 4. Slowly pour grenadine down the inside of the glass so it pools at the bottom and creates a layered red effect.
  5. 5. For the blood-dripping effect: drizzle a small amount of grenadine down the OUTSIDE of the glass, letting it run naturally. Do this just before serving so it's still fresh and shiny.
  6. 6. Garnish with a maraschino cherry or blood orange slice.
  7. 7. Serve with a straw so guests can stir the layers together. Simple, theatrical, and perfect for a Halloween party.
