Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 20 Reese's peanut butter cups (mini) or Rolos (for spider bodies)
  • 4 oz milk chocolate, melted (for legs)
  • Icing eyes (or make your own with white frosting and a dot of black)
  • Piping bag or ziplock bag with corner snipped

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. 2. Cream butter, peanut butter, and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  3. 3. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  4. 4. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto baking sheets, leaving space for spreading. Make a thumbprint in the center of each.
  5. 5. Bake 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft. Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes.
  6. 6. While still warm, press a peanut butter cup or Rolo into the center of each cookie (the spider body).
  7. 7. Transfer cookies to a cooling rack. Let cool completely.
  8. 8. Melt milk chocolate in the microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring each time. Put in a piping bag.
  9. 9. Pipe 8 spider legs (4 on each side) coming out from the chocolate body. Pipe a line connecting the body to the edge of the cookie.
  10. 10. Stick two icing eyes on the front of the chocolate body.
  11. 11. Let chocolate set completely. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
